Dutch celebrities to cabinet: stop development cooperation cuts

Several Dutch celebrities call on the Dutch cabinet to end the planned cuts in development cooperation and emergency aid. In the appeal, Dieuwertje Blok, Fedja van Huêt and Dolf Jansen, among others, speak and call for action. Also featured are Saskia Noort, Jeroen Stekelenburg, Job Cohen, Joël Voordewind and Ad van der Helm.

Cabinet cuts hit the poorest people worldwide

Billions of euros earmarked for development cooperation and emergency aid are spent by the government in the Netherlands. The Spring Memorandum shows that 3.4 billion euros will be cut from the budget for international poverty reduction and emergency aid in the coming years. Therefore, over 100 development organizations are calling for reversing these cuts and a ceiling on asylum costs paid from the development budget.
